I started on 2009/10/06, in a week of good weather following the first week of snow in the mountains. The route was Hannegan Pass trail, Copper Ridge trail, Chilliwack River trail, Whatcom Pass trail, Chilliwack River trail, and Hannegan Pass trail, with bivies at Copper Lake and Graybeal campgrounds, and side trips from Graybeal to Whatcom Pass and, on the way back, from Hannegan Pass to Hannegan Peak. The total distance and climb was 47 miles and 14,800 feet. There were 4 people on Hannegan Pass trail in the first 2 hours, and 3 people on Hannegan Peak and Hannegan Pass trail in the last 3 hours, but otherwise there was no one else there. There was a bear and bear cub browsing on blueberries on Copper Ridge on day 1, and one on Copper ridge and one at Whatcom Pass on day 2. They looked big, well fed and well groomed.
